C.O.T.M: JANUARY~~> AIDA RODRIGUEZ

Comedian/Actor Arsenio Hall says; “Aida has something I never had when starting my stand up career. She has tremendous self-confidence! That combined with being funny should be lethal.”  Her comedy is a colorful splash in the bland world of affairs, becoming the first and only Latina to ever appear on BET’s “Comic View: One Mic Stand”.  Currently wowing audiences on the L.A. Comedy scene with her regular appearances at The Improv and the Laugh Factory this Puerto Rican Latina performs for the troops on USO/MWR tours worldwide.  This two faced comedic actress performer has the ability to deliver the edgiest content with a shocking charisma that most don’t expect, and can turn around and hand you the most mainstream and family friendly concepts that even your seven year old can appreciate.  Aida recently hosted the Miss California Latina Pageant, first time in its 20 plus year history for a comedian to host. Look for Aida on season 2 of Latino 101 on SiTV.

Owen was always the class clown growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school, he got serious and enlisted in the Navy. He was chosen for the prestigious Presidential Honor Guard. Owen became a military police officer at the Naval Installations on Coronado Island in San Diego, but he says he was too much of a pushover to be a cop. One night while hanging with his service buddies, Owen worked up the nerve to go up at a nightclub. After only a year of doing stand-up, he was named “Funniest Serviceman in America.”Owen continued doing stand-up in San Diego, and had a huge African American fan base. He went onto win the “Funniest Black Comedian in San Diego” contest. That led to his first big gig at the Comedy Store in Hollywood. Then in July of 1997 he auditioned for BET’s COMICVIEW. At the end of the season he was selected from the year’s four “Grandstanders” to be the host. Recently,Owen joined the cast of Tyler Perry’s extremely successful HOUSE OF PAYNE. Perry met Owen on the Tom Joyner Morning Show (on which Owen is a regular) and immediately knowing he wanted to work with him, Additionally, Owen has been seen in such films as LITTLE MAN with the Wayans Brothers, REBOUND, and DADDY DAY CARE with Eddie Murphy

Bronx native Mark Viera became fascinated with comedy, the art he would one day master, very early on. While his mom spent countless hours as a social worker to provide for her family, Mark and his older brother would pass the time after school watching the popular TV shows of the 70′s and 80′s.Today, Mark has honed his talent to craft his own unique, creative style of comedy. His performances reflect his lighthearted, fun-loving approach to entertaining and his uncanny knack for seeing humor in even the most ordinary situations.Mark’s reputation as a comic trailblazer earned him the opportunity of a lifetime; a leading position with the hottest, most recognized and highly sought after comedy group in the U.S. The Latin Prince is a member of the “Top Dogs of Comedy,” rounding out a company of notable performers that includes Capone, Rob Stapleton, Corey Holcomb and Wil Sylvince.

Room Review: Moca’s Comedy Mondays

Punchline TV visited Moca’s lounge at 2210 Fredrick Douglass Blvd. Harlem, NY. Very nice decor for a place to eat and drink. Management didn’t respect comics- mics were shut off during sets. Management loudly argued with host in front of the venue.   Customers talked during sets including when the headliner took the stage.  There is no stage, leaving people to walk across the comic when trying to find a seat or go to the bathroom. Advice: Stress to costumers that this is a comedy night and to keep talking to minimal.  PunchLine TV gives Mocas
Comedy Monday 2 & 1/2 mic stands.
